The Canadian Jamaican Club (CJC) is a non-profit voluntary service organization, dedicated to the improvment of the quality of life in the communities throughout the Durham Region by coordinating the efforts of affiliated committees.
The CJC was formed in 1980.
Main Objectives Are:
1. To foster a spirit of co-operation among its members and all the diverse people in the society. 2. Work for the removal of barriers to education and career opportunities to the socially disadvantaged. 3. To work towards the elimination of negative racial and cultural stereotypes and to actively promote the concept of multi-culturalism. 4. To Unite the affiliate members of the Club in the bonds of friendship, good-fellowship and cooperation. 5. Promote the principle of good citizenship
6. Promote leadership training, community development and education.
7. To promote unity efficiency, dignity and resourcefulness through training programs 8. To encourage members to take an active interest in civic, cultural and recreational activities. 9.To provide a forum for discussion of all matter relevant to the Club 10..To engage in activities that share the West INdian culture with the wider community
